Cardiac Surgery

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of diseases affecting organs inside the thorax (the chest).

Cardiac surgery typically involves treatment of conditions of the heart (heart disease). The most common cardiac surgery performed is coronary artery bypass, but cardiac surgery also includes:

Repair or replacement of defective heart valves

Repair of congenital defects

Definitive treatment for atrial fibrillation (MAZE procedure)

Repair of ventricular aneurysms

Treatment of cardiac tumors

In addition to traditional open heart coronary artery bypass, we are able to offer minimally invasive off-pump coronary bypass (OPCABG).

We are also proud to offer minimally invasive endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting (EVH) to our patients. By using this technique, patients are able to return to normal activity more quickly.

In addition to surgery on the heart, we also perform procedures on the great vessels of the heart that are located within the chest cavity. This includes:

Repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA)

Treatment of acute thoracic aortic dissections
