VascularCenter

Vascular ultrasound is a vital tool used in the diagnosis of diseases affecting blood vessels. It is a safe, painless, non-invasive test.

A qualified and knowledgeable technologist will perform your test by passing an ultrasound transducer over the area to be examined, allowing measurement of blood flow within blood vessels. In conjunction with the professional interpretation by one of our Board Certified Vascular Surgeon, a very accurate diagnosis is possible.

Common tests performed at the VascularCenter include:

Carotid Artery Duplex

Peripheral Arterial Duplex and Physiologic Exercise Testing

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening and Surveillance

Abdominal Vascular Duplex for Renal or Mesenteric Artery Disease

Lower Extremity Venous Duplex

Vascular Screening

Individuals with cardiovascular risk factors such as a history of hypertension, diabetes, smoking, elevated cholesterol, family history of aneurysm disease or known cardiovascular disease may benefit from preventative screening for vascular disease.

Ultrasound screenings have proven to be accurate in detecting vascular disease prior to active warning signs and before a major medical incident, such as stoke or sudden death from aneurysm rupture.

Appropriate screening examinations in high-risk individuals include:

Ultrasound scanning of the aorta to identify aortic aneurysms

Ultrasound scanning of the carotid arteries to assess stroke risk

Blood pressure monitoring in the legs to identify peripheral arterial disease (PAD)

With the baby boomer population aging, raising public awareness about vascular disease and screening becomes critical. The Society for Vascular Surgery believes vascular disease must become a national health care priority and is committed to improving public awareness and understanding of vascular disease.
